  1. I'm 63 and bought a tiny, local company to scale 3 years ago. Took on a partner 20 years younger than me and now have 50+ employees all of which are very much younger than I am. I've learned so much from all of them and I've had a chance to help them understand how to scale a business. Now have operations in 9 states and have a valuation 10X+ the original buy. Don't retire – just rewire!

  2. Thanks for sharing this. I’m right at the age Chip pointed out on this podcast. The academy sounds like a place that would help solidify some directional questions that have been coming up. When the student is ready…

  3. Happy to hear Gary mention hiring Mad Men era copywriters. I've been looking to hire a similar experienced person for marketing & education. There is so much depth to this way of thinking. Younger isn't always better. Go to the core.

  4. Gary, as a 47 year young elder and brand creator, this piece was great! Far to many talents and minds work to be busy or relevant when what they have under lock and key is “priceless genius.” Your 22 year-old self would be a millionaire tomorrow, but not for all the years it took to make tomorrow happen.

    Make it happen,

    Chris

  5. GaryVee perfect timing with this content.
Im 45, attorney, from Caracas Venezuela, living in the US, creating my own version of a paid advertising agency. Just letting this comment here to come back at it in february 2025 and take a fucking incredible screen shoot.
    Thank you bro.

  6. This really hit home for me. Retired early from reselling at age 62, now selling $15k/mo reselling online (started Feb 2019) and enjoying myself like I did when I first started in 1981, never had a J.O.B. since then. Getting ready to start a podcast because of you, I want to help people of all ages get started selling online. Thanks, Gary.

  7. There are some good nuggets in this interview. A key issue though that needs to be explored is this: regardless of age there is a drive to the bottom when it comes to the exchange of value for peoples time. Young people getting the "privilege" of working for free in a company's intern program. Volunteers "paying" to volunteer. Experienced copywriters working for minimum wage.

  8. I love that Gary interrupts his guests and keeps a fast pace – I usually click away from a sales pitch and PR like this, but Gary makes it really fun for the viewer. I'm getting the Baja trip as a gift for someone starting over in their 60s, they'll love it

  9. After 33 years working for others in the fitness industry. . I Created my own business at 50 in 2010. used tools from jab,Jab hook for marketing. Followed your recommendatiOns for marketing on social . Found niches , which for my business was Women new to fitness over age 40. . Now age 60 , I just sold a wildly successful business to spend more time with grandkids and waiting for my next adventure. Your journey inspires and your tools are solid. Just gotta start at any age. Thanks for the inspiration and realness
